What is Udvartana?
Udvartana is a dry massage with warm herbal powders, applied with firm upward strokes against the direction of hair growth. Ayurveda uses it for Kapha-type heaviness, sluggish circulation and puffiness. It feels vigorous rather than relaxing, and is usually followed by herbal steam.
Why diet and routine come first
No massage on its own changes weight for long. The doctor looks at your Prakruti, digestion (Agni), sleep, meal timing and activity, and builds a realistic plan. Udvartana supports that plan; the daily routine does most of the work.
How a programme runs
- Consultation. Prakruti, digestion and health check, including thyroid and sugar history.
- Plan. Diet, meal timing, movement and sleep, written down for you.
- Udvartana sessions. A course, as advised, with reviews along the way.
- Follow-up. Adjustments at each review, and a seasonal check.
Cost
The programme starts at ₹ TBC, including the consultation and plan.
Questions people ask
Is Udvartana painful?
It is firm and brisk, and some people find it intense at first. The therapist adjusts the pressure.
How many sessions will I need?
The doctor decides after your consultation. Many courses run for 7 to 14 sessions alongside the diet plan (TBC).
Do I have to follow a strict diet?
No crash diets. The plan is built around food you can keep eating, adjusted for your Prakruti and routine.
